Why L’Enclos?

"L'Enclos," a name inspired by the churchyards of France—Enclos—represents the timeless union of the physical and spiritual realms, where the boundaries of the sacred dissolve and the truth of our interconnectedness emerges. It also serves as a reminder to Martin Lenclos of his heritage and the profound spiritual design inspiration he draws from, honoring the legacy of his predecessors.

Martin was deeply influenced by the rich narratives of ecclesiastics in his family, inspiring him to cultivate a transformation in our worldview. Martin's grandfather, a sculptor, and designer of religious furniture, restored churches in northern France destroyed during World War 2. His devotion to creating soul-elevating pieces resonated with Martin, who grew up running around his woodshop, witnessing the carving of statues and embracing the craft.

His parents imparted to him a deep sense of color, materials, and light and their vital role in shaping architectural and design landscapes. After an expansive global journey studying the Geography of Color, they shared their enlightened vision through books and classes, teaching others about their discoveries. The enriching influence of Martin's parents, coupled with his spiritual heritage, shaped his perception.

Surrounded by artists, makers, mystics, and teachers, Martin formed an early understanding that the world as we see it is hiding or obscuring our true nature and reality. Their combined impact profoundly transformed Martin's vision of the world, weaving together the spiritual and the sensory into a holistic perception of our existence.

Dominique and Jean-Philippe Lenclos dedicated their work to the exploration of the Geography of Color. Their study focused on understanding the traditional and cultural significance of color and its impact on populations across the globe.
