A CONSCIOUSNESS-FIRST STUDIO

At L'Enclos, we ask:
What if awakening could be explored, designed, and lived as a direct experiment?

Beyond Images.

How do art and design function as tools of inquiry when ancient philosophical insights and modern scientific discoveries intersect—revealing consciousness as fundamental to reality?

ART & DEVICES

Artworks as Signposts for Nondual Inquiry

L'Enclos develops artistic research and experiential design to explore perception, identity, and consciousness. Some works function as 'Self-Questioning Devices'—interactive tools for disrupting habitual thought patterns, sparking self-inquiry, and inviting deeper awareness. Others serve as visual markers, bridging insights from nondual philosophy, consciousness studies, and cognitive science to examine how perception shapes reality. These works do not seek to represent truth but to engage viewers in direct inquiry—reminding us that our perception of the world is shaped by unseen assumptions and may not fully capture its deeper essence.

The Contours of Impermanence series contains digital paintings which make you wonder what their purpose is. Is it art or a message to be understood?

ADVANCED PRACTICE

Design for Nothing: Shifting Perception Through Inquiry

Martin Lenclos presents Design for Nothing—a method for dissolving habitual perspectives and revealing the reality of shared consciousness. By engaging with this practice, you create the cognitive space necessary to see beyond the illusion of a separate self, recognizing awareness as ever-present. Through this shift, creativity expands, perception transforms, and presence deepens—not as an abstract idea, but as a lived experience.

MANTRA PRACTICE

Piece of Mind: A Practice in Perceptual Shifts

Explore the Piece of Mind mantra as a tool for shifting perception—from fragmentation to wholeness, from conceptual understanding to direct knowing. More than words, this practice invites a lived experience of awareness, dissolving mental barriers and revealing an underlying unity beyond thought.

DESIGN-AS-INQUIRY

L’Enclos applies the Design for Nothing approach to create experiential spaces and perception-shifting objects—designed to challenge assumptions and invite direct awareness.

CONSCIOUSNESS-FIRST ART & AESTHETICS

Contours of Impermanence: Art as a Lens for Perception

The Contours of Impermanence series by Martin Lenclos serves as a meditation on the fleeting nature of perception itself. Using impossible axonometric perspectives, these digital paintings disrupt habitual ways of seeing, inviting us to step beyond conditioned judgment. By depicting objects as deliberately flawed, they reflect the impermanence of form and challenge the mind’s attachment to fixed meaning. Acting as Self-Questioning Devices, these pieces are not representations but catalysts—tools for engaging with the malleability of perception and reality.
